About Le Manoir du Moulin

The beginning

Lovingly restored in a manner that allows the exceptional bones of the 17th century manor to shine through. Warren and Shari created interiors as grand, intimate, intriguing, and inviting as the acre of gardens and orchard that surround it. Exposed stone walls throughout the home whisper the history of French families past who escaped the stuffy confines of Parisian summers for the fresh country air and produce of the Vendée. The manor’s original, solid oak floors testify to a bygone era of craftsmanship, worn soft by centuries of slipper-clad feet. Expert modern tile work, exceptional finishes, and painstaking attention to detail complement the heavy wood beams, custom furniture, and polished, original doorframes. For modern families and travelers, Manoir du Moulin captures everything the heart yearns for in a European escape – the true authenticity of the region, coupled with all the comforts of contemporary luxury.

About us

A relaxing stay

Already unique in the Vendée for comfort and style, Warren and Shari are equally outdoing themselves for experiences and hospitality. Cooking lessons and dinners with world-renowned chefs, wine tours with seasoned experts, surf lessons and excursions, and in-room spa services are just a few fantastic options. Wandering the gardens, daydreaming in the orchard, or curling up with a book on the sofa in the study are a few more often unplanned, yet equally enjoyable (and often much-needed!) experiences for many manoir guests. Plenty of fodder for postcards home, a charming collection of which are strategically strewn about the manor for guests to stumble upon and share. A short stroll in search of a post box will land you in the heart of St. Hermine – the village square – that springs to life every Friday morning with market stalls groaning under the weight of the region’s best and freshest of everything.

After a day spent gallivanting through French wine country, frolicking on the beach, and eating your way through the gastronomic history of the Vendée, there is no more welcoming abode to return to. Come home to relax by the original marble fireplace in the Study on the comfy canape. In every room lies an elegant cocoon bathtub built for two and an impeccably made, deliriously soft, king-size bed. While you snooze soundly in your down-filled dream bed, homemade confitures wait for breakfast in the Conservatory, and bottles of champagne chill in the cellar. Truth be told, Manoir du Moulin does not simply receive, but generously gives back.
